The Bronaugh is a low-income, senior living apartment building in NW Portland. Originally built in 1905, it is one of the oldest remaining apartment buildings in Portland. As a building on the Historic Registry, the design team worked to maintain the original, eclectic architectural details such as the semi-circular arched openings, bracketed overhanging eaves, decorative egg and dart molding, and ornamented frieze and bay window panels. Respecting both the architecture and the residents, the building’s need for accessible and seismic upgrades was critical. The Bronaugh has a full seismic, structural upgrade while maintaining the atmosphere of the interior stucco-clad courtyard.
