The Magnolia

The Magnolia is a 50-unit low income apartment building along MLK Boulevard. The five story buliding includes one and two bedroom units, 1,500 square feet of amenity space and 2,000 square feet of ground floor retail space. The design drew inspiration from the surrounding neighborhood and serves as a catalyst for respectful development along the vibrant MLK corridor. With a focus on the urban context and sustainable design, the building mass steps down to the adjacent residential homes, incorporates private balconies and recessed ground floor patios, and utilizes daylighting strategies, which provide personal space and access to an lively streetscape.
