Woody Guthrie – on the boards

Woody Guthrie Place is a 64-unit multifamily, mixed income apartment building in Lents Town Center. The four story building includes one, two and three bedrooms units, a community room, outdoor plaza, play area and a roof-top exterior deck. The design draws inspiration from the 1940s when Woody Guthrie landed in Portland’s Lents neighborhood and settled his family. Those modest accommodations served as his studio and the working class ethic of the neighborhood fueled his song writing.  Woody Guthrie’s time in Oregon was brief, but the songs he wrote for the Bonneville Power Administration captured the spirit of the time and continue to resonate today.
