eco roofs
Multnomah Building
Designed as Portland’s first public demonstration ecoroof, this project converts an existing flat roof of Multnomah County’s Multnomah Building into an ecoroof and public plaza. The ecoroof system selected is intensive, meaning it can support heavier loads of soil and plantings, up to 200 psf, and can tolerate foot traffic. Plantings includes waves of wildflowers, grasses and perennials that provide color throughout the year. Interpretive kiosks illustrate the fabric, benefits and purpose of the green roof on the public plaza.
