Salary & Benefits

Carleton Hart Architecture offers a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package including 401k employer contributions, company paid medical, vision, dental, and short-term/long-term disabilities insurance, Paid Time Off (PTO), 15 paid holidays (including five designated Mental Health Days), transit passes, and incentives for other sustainable commuting. CHA employees also have flexibility with our hybrid remote/in-office work schedule which requires residence in the Portland metropolitan area.

Project Architect +

CHA seeks a Project Architect to lead project teams through design development and technical challenges while providing guidance to clients and mentorship to junior staff. At CHA, we foster a collaborative environment where clear communication, strategic thinking, and teamwork are essential. We value strong design skills, technical expertise, creative problem-solving, and a commitment to continuous learning and exploration of what architecture can achieve.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree from an NAAB-accredited school of architecture.
  • Licensed Architect with at least ten (10) years of experience.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and graphic skills necessary to communicate concepts and solutions to team members, clients, consultants, contractors, and the public.
  • Strong organization, multi-tasking, and time management skills.
  • Ability to contribute to all phases of a project from marketing and pre-design services through programming, concept design, and construction administration.
  • Technical knowledge and understanding of architectural and engineering components of buildings and their interrelationships.
  • Ability to manage a project team through design and construction.

PREFERENCES

  • Sustainability credentials such as LEED AP, CPHD, WELL.
  • Experience with Land-Use Process and Community Engagement facilitation.
  • Experience in Multifamily housing, Multi-Use, Commercial and/or public/governmental projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop, articulate, define, and execute the project scope for a wide variety of projects.
  • Collaborate with design team in developing drawings and specifications.
  • Supervise, coordinate, and review the work of CHA project team and outside consultants.
  • Communicate effectively with diverse groups on complex projects.
  • Lead the development of designs, documents, and specifications.
  • Support the project by coordinating with public agencies to obtain building permits.
  • Interact with the client to achieve project goals.
  • Ensure CHA processes, graphic standards are met.
  • Provide project leadership and staff mentorship.
  • Contribute to office initiatives and be a recognized resource to other CHA staff.
  • Perform QA/QC review.
  • Construction Administration.

Project Manager +

CHA seeks a Project Manager who will be involved in all aspects of project and office management, using your design, technical knowledge, staff development, and leadership. CHA is a collaborative environment where initiative and creative thinking is highly valued, and where Project Managers encourage, lead and mentor teams and staff. The ability to lead and manage a team through complex projects is critical for the position. Project Managers are also key leaders in managing and developing client relationships as part of overall business development activities at CHA. Excelling in this role will yield opportunities for advancement to the Leadership Team and becoming a decision-maker in the firm.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an NAAB-accredited school of architecture.

  • Licensed Architect.

  • Excellent verbal, written, and graphic skills necessary to communicate concepts and solutions to team members, clients, consultants, contractors, and the public.

  • Strong organization, multi-tasking, and time management skills.

  • Ability to contribute to all phases of a project from marketing and pre-design services through programming concept design, design documentation and construction administration.

  • Technical knowledge of architectural and engineering components of buildings.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, Bluebeam and Revit.

  • Ability to manage multiple project teams including scheduling and budgeting.

  • Experience in performing assignments of substantial variety and complexity for community-oriented projects.

  • Interest in participating in firm management, business development, and leadership.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Contribute to all phases of a project from pre-design services through programming, concept design and construction administration.
  • Build internal and external project teams with qualifications appropriate to the project.
  • Supervise, coordinate, plan, mentor and review the work of multiple entire project teams on multiple projects of various sizes.
  • Provide guidance necessary to ensure project teams meet CHA standards for design, documentation, technical performance, and graphics.
  • Assist project architects in managing changes in scope, schedule, and fee throughout the project to ensure project success.
  • Develop, negotiate, and execute the project scope, fees, and schedule.
  • Communicate and coordinate project staffing needs with project teams, other project managers and with firm leadership.
  • Work with Marketing Manager on pursuing business development opportunities and participate in marketing activities.
  • Work with Principal-in-Charge and Accounting to ensure positive financial performance and manage risk exposure for the firm.
  • Follow trends in the A/E/C industry and keep abreast of influences impacting CHA clients.
  • Encourage a positive team morale and inspire a collaborative and accountable team environment.

Job Captain +

CHA seeks a Job Captain who provides a vital role in the development of a project from early studies through construction administration. As Job Captain, you will be responsible for developing project documents and ensuring that they represent the intent of the design as well as conformance with CHA’s standards for quality. This role will build upon your design skills, technical expertise, creative thinking, organizational ability, and capacity to both lead and learn from others within a team.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an NAAB-accredited school of architecture.
  • 4 + years of experience.
  • Experience with Revit, Sketchup, Adobe Creative Suite and Bluebeam.
  • Team player who is self-motivated, detail-oriented and has strong design sensibilities.

PREFERENCES

  • Interest in pursuing sustainability credentials, e.g., LEED AP, CPHD, WELL.
  • Experience in Multifamily housing, Multi-Use, Commercial and/or public/governmental projects.
  • Actively pursuing architectural registration through AXP and preparing for AREs.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participate in the design and documentation of projects from feasibility study through construction administration.
  • Independently or with a team, be responsible for production of project documents.
  • Interact with consultants, vendors, public jurisdictions, and clients.
  • Ensure adherence to CHA processes and graphic standards.
  • Perform building and planning code reviews.
  • Assist in coordinating consultant drawings and technical information.
  • Develop graphics for presentations.
