Nestled in the heart of North Bend, the North Bend family Housing development will provide 105 units of affordable housing within the four-building campus. This housing community has a mix of unit sizes, addressing a range of community needs.
The main building fronting Broadway Avenue serves as the main entrance, welcoming residents and visitors to the campus. The ground floor of the main building includes the offices and community spaces for the housing complex, including leasing office, resident services, laundry room with lounge, mail room, various meeting spaces, a computer room, and a large community room with a community kitchen. Consolidating this program on the site, creates a place for community interaction. A mix of studio and 1-bedroom units occupy the upper floors of the main building, with 20 of those units designated as Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) for residents with chronic and persistent mental illness. The North Bend City Coos-Curry Housing Authority is partnering with Coos County Health and Wellness who will be providing on-site resident services for PSH resident needs.
Completing the campus are three residential only buildings aiming to serve families with a mix of 2 and 3-bedroom units. Each of these buildings have wide exterior breezeways serving as access points and a covered exterior connection to the greater campus and landscaped areas. A focal point for outdoor community activity is the large central courtyard, containing a natural playscape, open grass lawn, picnic shelters, and extensive walking paths. Combining housing, services, and community oriented design, this project creates a safe, nurturing environment for all residents.
