CERTIFICATION:
Earth Advantage Gold
This new 6-story mixed-use building is home to 63 families and provides commercial services for the community. Created in partnership with Community Development Partners (CDP) and Self Enhancement, Inc. (SEI), the development aims to foster a sense of community by providing affordable family-sized apartments and supportive services that celebrate and connect underserved individuals and families in Portland’s historically Black North/Northeast neighborhoods.
Common amenities include an outdoor courtyard, bike storage, and on-site vehicle parking. Space for neighborhood-serving commercial uses is provided on the ground floor. The building is well served by nearby light-rail transit stations and frequent service bus lines. Neighborhood amenities include Patton Square City Park and Interstate Firehouse Cultural Center located three blocks north, as well as a variety of restaurants and health services.
Over the last few decades, gentrification and eminent domain have resulted in the mass displacement of Black residents from the Albina neighborhood. By prioritizing these new homes to serve those historically displaced, CDP and SEI aim to reconnect these individuals and families with the greater Albina community and the culturally specific services and landmarks of the neighborhood.
