Rogue River Affordable Housing

CLIENT:

Catholic Charities

Catholic Charities asked Carleton Hart to rehabilitate three properties in Southern Oregon. Hillside Village is one of the only options for affordable housing in the small Southern Oregon community of Glendale, Valerie Hills is home to many Rogue River families, while the Woodville Village community is home to seniors. All three sites required renovations to better accommodate the needs of their resident populations.

Hillside Village proved a challenging site, perched on a steep hill, which posed many constraints in terms of accessibility, water remediation, and durability. New handrails were added throughout the site to enhance safety and create a more cohesive and updated look throughout the property.

Woodville Village’s community building was upgraded with fully accessible bathrooms, and features new flooring and a new kitchenette. New doors and windows were installed, along with new appliances and fixtures to create pleasant and functional homes.

All sites received accessibility improvements, new site furnishings, and exterior lighting. The homes received all new siding, windows and doors. Cheerful paint colors were chosen to brighten up the community and compliment the color of the surrounding trees. New privacy screens on rear patios create private spaces for residents to relax. All remodeled units feature new appliances, fixtures, heating and cooling units, and durable materials throughout to allow for continued use for many years to come.
