CHA assisted the Housing Authority of Clackamas County (HACC) on this extensive rehabilitation of a former mid-centry nursing home facility into permanent supportive housing. Located on a 2.2 acre site in the City of Gladstone, the 27,000 square foot, single-story building received major upgrades to the existing site and structure to deliver 48 single-room occupancy (SRO) studio units to a community in great need of affordable housing.

With services provided by Home Forward and NARA, Tukwila Springs offers a vibrant and active community life for seniors over 55+. Surrounded by mature pines and newly-planted landscaping, residents enjoy access to nature with a large covered seating area outside, scattered seating throughout the site, and garden beds for community gardening. Inside, residents have access to a large community kitchen, yoga/recreation studio, and community room. Care was taken to give residents choice by providing space for active community involvement or space for passive involvement or quite contemplation.
